Strange smell on residential street at 4am leads to massive cannabis farm

Police have uncovered a 300 plant cannabis farm at a house in Walton.

Officers were called to a house on the residential Delamore Street at around 4:15am this morning following reports of 'a strange smell' coming from the area.

Around 300 plants were found inside the property, which was attended by Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue.

The front door of the house also appeared to have been taken off its hinges during the raid.

Witnesses at the scene said they could "smell a strange smell" drifting down the street prior to the discovery.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "Officers and Merseyside Fire and Rescue attended an address  on Delamore Street at about 4.15am this morning following reports of a strange smell.

"After gaining entry to a property they found a cannabis farm containing approximately 300 plants.

"Officers are appealing to anyone who may have information about those who have been using the property to contact Merseyside Police."
