'Strange' man follows woman walking her dog in the park

A dog walker took to social media to report a sinister experience as she was exercising her pet at a Wirral park.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was taking her dog for a walk at Elleray Park in Wallasey yesterday evening (Tuesday).

She said: "I was followed this evening by late middle aged male, little overweight male pattern balding, black jeans, black t-shirt, glasses. Showing too much interest in my dog.

"I told him to stop following me, he pretended he had no idea what I was saying. Still followed me until I spoke to some other dog walkers at which point he abruptly turned around. Other walkers did not recognise him as a regular (me neither)."

She added: "Keep your dogs on their leads everyone. It seemed to put him off once I'd got my dog back on the lead. My dog is 14 so don't even want to think about what he wanted him for."

Other people responded to the post to share similar experiences at the location.

One said: "Same thing happened to me yesterday in Elleray Park. It was two men with same description and foreign accent. I was on my own with my little dog so very frightening."

Another said: "A guy of that description was there around 8.30pm last night when we went, but he had an old black dog with him that was some distance ahead.

"He walked towards us straight away and started walking behind us. He was talking to himself, so we stopped and turned to face him. He was totally oblivious and carried on muttering.

"He appeared strange walking towards and behind people, it was noticeable."
