Some confused Manchester City fans have questioned Pep Guardiola for a 'strange' decision vs Club Brugge.
With an impending Premier League showdown against neighbours Manchester United on the horizon, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has made three changes to his starting line-up for a Champions League game at the Etihad Stadium tonight (8pm).
Ruben Dias, Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus have all been omitted from the XI by Guardiola.
In come England defender John Stones, Ilkay Gundogan - who captains the team - and Riyad Mahrez.
Under normal circumstances, those selection decisions wouldn't raise many eyebrows among City supporters, but on this occasion they have been quick to point out Guardiola's pre-match comments.
Speaking to the media, the Spaniard suggested that this encounter with Club Brugge was 'not as important' as the Manchester derby. Needless to say, eagle-eyed City fans were quick to address that particular stand-point on social media platform Twitter;
@zxlini said: "Dias benched is a strange one considering Pep said this was more important than the derby."
@FerranRole posted: "Why is [Jack] Grealish starting again? Give Raheem [Sterling] a go."
@mcfcwoody_ added: "It's good that we've rested Dias for Saturday."

@Tam_Corleone_ said: "It's good that Pep is giving Kevin [de Bruyne] time off. I think his performance dropped due to exhaustion."
@cityjudez posted: "A proper line-up and the only thing stopping this team from a 100 per cent win is Grealish."
@KingMaier9 added: "We have to let Grealish gel into the team."
