'Strange lights' spotted flashing in the sky over parts of Merseyside

A man from Liverpool has recorded the moment two "strange lights" appeared in the sky.

The man, who did not want to be named, from Norris Green managed to capture two white flashes in the sky last week.

The flashes happened at around 11am on Thursday September 9 over Litherland and Netherton areas.

They said: "[There were] strange lights in the sky yesterday at approximately 11am in the Litherland or Netherton area.

"I was in Norris Green and I have a one min video of strange lights moving in the sky. It was broad day light and was no drone."

Sefton has proved to be the borough with the most police reports of extra-terrestrial activity in recent years.

The ECHO sent off a Freedom of Information request in 2018 that showed officers in the borough received four calls about apparent extra-terrestrial activity between January 1, 2016 and March 31, 2018.

This was double the amount in Liverpool (two) - and four times as many as those in Knowsley and in Wirral (one).

No sighting were reported in St Helens during this time period.

Between April 2014 and October 2015, police had to deal with 18 reports of alien activity in the borough.

On two separate occasions, informants attended Southport police station - claiming they themselves were aliens, while another case concerned a Bootle resident who stated he had been abducted by life forms from another planet.

Eight of the incidents involved UFO sightings over the Bootle area.
