'Strange glow' above Bristol is confusing locals

A strange, unexplained glow was spotted above the skies of Bristol on New Year's Day that locals can't explain.

Carly, sent in a video (above) and photos asking if anyone knows what it was.

It does not appear to be fireworks given how long the glow stayed in the sky.

Carly told Bristol Live that she spotted it when she was travelling along the M5 at around 1am on New Year's Day.

It was so strange that she and her partner pulled over to the side of the road to take photos of it, saying there were some noises audible as well.

It seems to start off as a deep orange glow before turning a yellow colour and just hanging in the sky, and doesn't appear to be fireworks.
