Strange flashing 'alien light' coming from below the River Thames baffles residents

Many were left baffled last night by a mysterious flashing light that appeared to be coming from below the River Thames.

Resident Juliana Asayevich posted in a Facebook group for locals in Canary Wharf, East London a video asking what the flashing light could be.

Locals were left scratching their heads trying to figure out what the mysterious light could be from beneath the river's surface.

Residents shared their theories including one saying it could be a submarine, MyLondon reports.

One joked that it was a UFO while others absurdly suggested Pixar character Nemo was responsible for the glowing light.

Another resident said the flashing light could be a traffic beacon, which is "pretty waterproof" and take a while to stop working.

One responded: "Whoever threw it out that far should join the Olympic discuss team."

Another resident said it could be a light from a bike as they said they remembered an incident where a bike was dumped in the canal.

One joker said: "It's a UFO: Unidentifiable Floating Object."

Another speculated the light could be coming "not from below, but above", adding an alien emoji.

Some responses were ridiculous as one blamed "Nemo with a torch" for the light.

One Facebook commenter said the light could be coming from "an underwater party hosted by Sadiq Khan."

Another said: "It's a rare popo fish. Swim Nemo, they're gonna nick you."

A third commented: "It's probably the location of the plug. All you have to do is pull it out."
