Strange error messages as Virgin users suffer internet outages

Virgin Media customers have been reporting strange error messages and internet outages in Merseyside this morning.

Some users have reported their internet going down before seeing an error message pop up on their devices stating: "Weak security."

According to website www.istheservicedown.co.uk, which monitors reports of internet problems, there were a spike of reports of internet problems with Virgin in the past few hours in Merseyside.

Posting on Facebook, one user, from Wallasey, said: "Did anybody else have problems with Virgin broadband last night? Ours crashed and when it eventually came back on it had a message saying 'weak security' which we’ve never had before."

Another user reported problems in Bromborough, while an outage map also showed issues in Liverpool.

According to istheservicedown, there was a spike of reports of Virgin internet outages this morning, peaking at around 10am.

According to the Virgin website, the error messages may be related to an iPhone upgrade, but are "nothing to worry about."

The company also reported having received no issues at around midday in Wallasey or Liverpool.
