Strange disturbance by train station wakes up residents at 1am

The source of bizarre noises by a train station at 1am had residents in Wirral scratching their heads today.

The incident occurred in Bebington, and saw locals taking to social media to discuss what was causing the disturbance.

And although an explanation emerged, it perhaps raised even more questions.

Posting on the Crimewatch Wirral Facebook group, one person wrote: “[Someone] was doing the trees at Bebington train station with a wood chipper machine ... bit of a mad time if you ask me like.”

Another member of the group had a similar explanation. They said: “I was delivering the milk and thought it was somebody ragging a motorbike round until I got by the train station, it was just some guy going about his daily business throwing trees through a wood chipper at 1 in the morning without a care in the world, nothing to see here.”

The loud noise and the disturbance it was causing drove some to anger and others to humour. One person said: “A deranged man is riding around on a motorbike with a chainsaw.”

While another posted: “This woke me up about 1am, thought I was imagining it after watching too many horror movies.”

It appears that the noise started around midnight and went on until shortly after 1am, waking up many people in Bebington.

A further member of the Facebook group joked that residents had taken to illegal lawn mower racing, as the region prepared to go into the highly restrictive Tier Three coronavirus rules.
