Strange ‘teensy bit aurora-like' beams of light spotted in Glasgow sky

Glaswegians have been left baffled by the sight of strange beams of light in the sky.

The mystery orange lights were spotted appearing in the cloudy sky by a number of residents across the city.

Angie Zhaoyang Wang noticed the lights in the Firhill area looking northward around 11:20pm last night.

She told Glasgow Live the lights were a "teensy bit aurora-like".

It comes just a few weeks after a Croftfoot local spotted some other mystery lights in the night sky above Glasgow that were described as 'like something from War of the Worlds'.

Several people suspected it signalled the arrival of UFOs to the city, although it seems that the colourful lights' appearance were - less sensationally - attributed to meteorology.

And speaking of the aurora, we also reported a few weeks back how one lucky chap captured the Northern Lights above the Campsie Fells from his bedroom window in Bishopbriggs.

As for these latest lights, we welcome any explanations as to what they might have been...
