An emergency rescue operation was launched after three teenage girls became stranded on the Ardeer peninsula.
Two Coastguard teams, lifeboat crews from Troon, a search and rescue helicopter and police were dispatched after the alarm was raised shortly after 8pm last night.
The three youngsters were found unharmed on the shore.
A spokesman for the Marine and Coastguard Agency said: "Shortly after 8pm yesterday ( February 9), Scottish police requested assistance from HM Coastguard after receiving a 999 call reporting three people stranded on Ardeer Beach, Irvine.
"Coastguard rescue teams from Ardrossan and Greenock, as well as the Troon RNLI lifeboats were sent, together with the search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick and the Scottish police.
"The coastguard rescue teams located the three women on the shore, cold and exhausted but otherwise well, and they were passed into the care of Scottish police.
A Police Scotland spokesman added: "We were made aware of three teenage girls stranded near the Ardeer peninsula around 8pm on Tuesday, February 9.
"All three were recovered safely by HM Coastguard and did not require medical attention."
