A man identified as the stowaway who died after falling 3,500ft from an aeroplane into a garden in south London is actually alive and believed to be in a Kenyan prison.
Sky News had named Paul Manyasi, 29, as the man thought to have been hiding in the landing gear of a Kenya Airways flight when he fell to his death on June 30.
Sky's story was based on interviews with people who it said identified as friends, relatives and colleagues of Mr Manyasi - including his father.
However reports in Kenya say that relatives of the man pictured above now said he was not dead and gave his name as Cedric Shivonje. They said they believed he was on remand in prison.
Sky - used as the source for an Evening Standard report on the identity - has retracted its story and published a correction.
