Grime star Stormzy waved the chequered flag as Lewis Hamilton crossed the finishing line in first place at the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton secured a record sixth title on home soil to extend his lead in the championship to 39 points - moving a step closer to a sixth F1 title.

Stormzy was on hand to do the honours as the 34-year-old sealed victory ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas.

After missing out on victory on home soil last year, Hamilton was able to take full advantage when a safety car was deployed to slip ahead of Bottas.

The drama came elsewhere in Sunday's race with SebastianVettel and Max Verstappen involved in a heavy crash with 15 laps to go.

Attempting to overlap the Red Bull driver into third place, Vettel rear-ended Verstappen, sending him flying into the gravel with sparks flying from underneath his car.

It was Verstappen who managed to recover however, reclaiming fifth place as Vettel slipped to 17th - hit with a 10 second penalty to add insult to injury.
