Stormzy sings love letter to Maya Jama after rumours they've rekindled their romance

Stormzy bared his soul at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard last night.

The rapper kicked off his headline show with Big For Your Boots before segueing into a medley of the new soulful tunes from his new album This Is What I Mean.

Among the new songs was Fire + Water - a letter to his ex-girlfriend Maya Jama about everything that could have been.

The love song tells of his admiration for Maya and explores what life could have been like if their relationship had worked out.

Stormzy invited rising star Debbie on stage to help sing the emotional song about his "perfect match".

"I know I brought a world of pain you could've did without," he sang, "If you was livin' with me then I'd probably get a bigger house."

Before reminiscing about this lost love, Stormzy opened up about his faith and admitted to the rapt audience "it might sound boring to some".

"Whatever you believe in I pray you believe with all your heart, all your sincerity the same that I believe in my god, the god I serve," he told the Jingle Bell Ball crowd.

"Every time I jump on this stage, it might sound boring to some but it's very important to me to give all glory to god because I owe him my life, I owe him my career so this is a song that I wrote about the glory of god and it's called Holy Spirit."

It comes after it was reported that Maya and Stormzy rekindled their romance when they attended the GQ Men Of The Year 2022 awards.

The two dated for four years and split in 2019.

Sources at the glitzy event, which included guests such as Kit Connor and Sebastian Croft, John Boyega, Salma Hayek, and Rochelle Humes, claimed they saw the couple chatting in a quiet corner before leaving moments apart.

A source had claimed: ”Stormzy and Maya are together again, they're taking it slow but are very much back in each other's lives after a long time when they didn't speak or see each other.”

Meanwhile, a second said: ”They spent loads of time together at the afterparty and were chatting in a corner for ages.

”It seemed as though they went somewhere else together afterward because she walked out and then he followed her out five minutes later.”

But Maya's team confirmed exclusively to The Mirror the former couple are not romantically together, despite claims.

Newly single Maya recently split from NBA player Ben Simmons, after the pair had a ”difficult time” due to their long-distance relationship.

She has since been on a 'string of dates with US R&B singer Giveon'.
