Stormy weather brings surprising new attraction to north Dublin beach

A sailing boat that ran aground during a storm has become an interesting sight for families.

Residents in Malahide, Co Dublin, have been stopping off at the beach to take a look at the sailing boat.

The boat ran aground during the recent stormy weather.

Brian Doyle, a father from Balbriggan, north Dublin, who stopped off to visit the boat with his toddler son, Jay, said: "It’s an interesting sight for the kids.

"They normally only see the boats from afar, so it’s nice to see one up close."

A local sailor said the boat’s moorings had broken in the storm.

A Fingal Council spokesman said: "We have made contact with the owner of the boat and they have made a commitment that it will be removed in the coming days."
