Stormy Daniels has been arrested in Ohio, according to her lawyer.
Stormy Daniels, the adult film star suing President Donald Trump after an alleged affair, was arrested during a performance in Ohio early Thursday.
Lawyer Michael Avenatti said that his client, who was paid $130,000 not to discuss the alleged affair during the 2016 campaign, was "arrested in Columbus, Ohio, performing the same act she has performed across the nation at nearly a hundred strip clubs."
"She was arrested for allegedly allowing a customer to touch her while on stage in a non sexual manner! Are you kidding me?" Avenatti tweeted. "They are devoting law enforcement resources to sting operations for this? There has to be higher priorities!!! #SetUp #Basta"
Daniels will be arraigned on three misdemeanor counts of touching a patron at a "sexually oriented" business.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, launched the tour shortly after she began to talk about her interactions with Trump, which she says also includes being threatened in a Las Vegas parking garage and intimidated into staying silent.
"This was a setup & politically motivated. It reeks of desperation. We will fight all bogus charges," Avenatti said.
During her performance at Sirens strip club, Daniels "began forcing the faces of the patrons into her chest and using her bare breasts to smack the patrons," according to the criminal complaint obtained by Fox 8. Police officers observed her "fondling" the breasts of female patrons, according to authorities.
The officers approached the stage and Daniels "made her way" to a detective and began performing in front of her, according to the complaint. Daniels leaned over, grabbed the detective's head and began "smacking her face with her bare breasts," according to cops. Daniels also allegedly held the detective's face between her breasts against her chest. She then "performed the same acts" on a male detective and another officer, according to the complaint.
Avenatti said that Daniels will plead not guilty to all three misdemeanor charges. Daniels posted $6,054 bail and was released just before 5:30 a.m.
Ohio's little-enforced Community Defense Act prohibits people from touching naked or semi-naked dancers, with the exception of family members. The law also forbids dancers from making contact with patrons.
The Columbus Division of Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Sirens said on its website that Daniels was scheduled to perform there Wednesday and Thursday night. In a statement released by Avenatti, Daniels said she will be "unable to go forward" with Thursday night's performance.
"I deeply apologize to my fans in Columbus," she said.
Two other dancers were also arrested, according to WSYX.
Daniels is suing Trump and his personal lawyer Michael Cohen over the legality of the alleged hush payment, which Trump has acknowledged directing, and she also filed an additional suit against Trump for defamation.
