A large storm has damaged properties and cut power to homesteads in Tidbinbilla.

Tidbinbilla Station owner Michael Shanahan said the storm hit around 5pm on Monday, and he estimates it caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

"[It did] damage to practically every structure there," he said.

"It's probably damaged about a dozen structures.

"Lots of trees down, and trees blown into buildings, blowing bits of buildings into buildings, flying debris ... lots and lots of damage."

Mr Shanahan said some homesteads lost power in the storm.

"There's a husband and wife living in the house who work for me. I don't know if they'll stay with us for the night or stay with their son or stay in the house," he said.

"They've got no power, and they've had a couple of windows damaged in the house."
