Star Melbourne playmaker Cameron Munster remains quarantined from Storm training as he continues to battle illness ahead of their blockbuster NRL clash with Penrith on Friday night.

Munster missed the Storm's last round win over Manly and remains away from their headquarters for fear of infecting his teammates as they look to topple the ladder leaders at Marvel Stadium.

He fell sick with a mystery bug just before State of Origin last Wednesday night and suited up to help Queensland win the series, but hasn't trained since.

"He's still sick at the moment," said Munster's halves partner Jahrome Hughes.

"The club's just giving him a couple of days off just to get him back to being OK.

"All reports are that he will be fine, and I think he was much better today, but what he had I don't think they wanted him to pass it on to anyone else so they're just playing it smart but he will be there."

The Panthers meanwhile welcome back their Origin quintet - Blues players Jarome Luai, Stephen Crichton, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo and Brian To'o - who sat out their win over Newcastle.

While Penrith sit on top of the ladder, they are tied with Brisbane and Melbourne on competition points having each picked up 10 wins from 15 games.

The winner from their clash will go clear of the pack for at least 24 hours, with the Broncos a chance to go level when they take on the Dolphins at The Gabba on Saturday night.

Hughes rated the Panthers as worthy ladders leaders but felt his team were tracking well.

"They're the best team in the comp at the moment and have been for the last couple of years," the Kiwi Test halfback said.

"It's a good challenge for us - we've been really inconsistent this year but we've been good the last couple of weeks but you want to test it by playing the best."

Melbourne have shifted their next two home games to the AFL stadium due to the FIFA Women's World Cup, having last played there in 2010 against the Warriors.
