Storm Rene in middle of the Atlantic set to become a hurricane, NHC says

Tropical Storm Rene, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by Saturday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Thursday.

Rene is located about 865 miles (1395 km) west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (85 kph).
