The third storm front in four days has smashed into Western Australia, bringing winds in excess of 100 kilometres per hour and driving rain, and whipping up dangerous surf along the coast.
And the wild weather is not over yet, with one more cold front set to hit on Tuesday and bring a bout of hail before the city gets any relief.
The latest strong cold front approaching the south-west of the state, including Perth, hit Albany around 8:00am, before tracking along a line from Hopetoun to Jurien Bay in the afternoon.
It was expected to bring gusts up to 110kph, rainfall and higher than normal tides and dangerous surf.
Overnight the winds peaked at 109kph at Cape Leeuwin about 3:00am.
"It is very windy over a dry cold, so some small hail possible as well with the risk of thunderstorms through today," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Noel Pusey said.
Beaches hit by big swell
The coastline bore the brunt of the storm, with erosion visible at several Perth metropolitan beaches.
"There's been quite a large amount of beach erosion through at least the Perth metro area, and it's likely there will be further erosion along the remainder of the west coast south of Jurien Bay and even possibly along the south coast as well," Mr Pusey said.
"There's a quite a big swell running too, with up to a 7-metre swell around the south-west corner and that will continue for around about a day as well."
In Perth, gusty winds were forecast to reach up to 50kph before easing back to 25kph to 40kph in the late afternoon.
Mr Pusey said the strong winds would continue into Tuesday, possibly bringing hail in the morning and up to 15 millimetres of rain.
"A second cold front will move through on Tuesday morning, and we're expecting things to start to ease off a little bit after that, so we'll have a good 24 hours of this sort of activity off and on," he said.
