The North and Northeast regions should brace for more rain on Aug 27-28 brought by tropical storm Pakhar, according to the 5am announcement of the Thai Meteorological Department on Sunday.
At 4am on Sunday, tropical storm Pakhar was over the upper South China Sea and moving in a northwesterly direction at about 25 kilometres per hour. It is expected to sweep through Hainan, China, and then upper Vietnam on Aug 27-28.
Once the storm reaches upper Vietnam, it will bring more rain to the North and Northeast regions of Thailand. People are advised to follow official weather forecasts closely during this period.
According to the department's weather forecast for the 24 hours from Sunday morning, there will be rain - including isolated heavy rain - in the North, Northeast and East. People in low-lying areas and near mountains should beware of flash floods.
