Storm Keating says she hates being known just as 'Ronan's wife'

Storm Keating has admitted she hates been known as just “Ronan’s wife” and said there’s a lot more to her than “a few pretty pictures.”

The mum-of-one was working as a TV producer on Australian X Factor when she met the Boyzone singer and the pair fell in love.

Speaking to RSVP magazine, Storm, 37, said: “Before I was ‘Ronan Keating’s girlfriend’ and now I’m obviously ‘Ronan Keating’s wife,’ I find it really difficult only because of my personality type and the fact that I worked really hard, graduated with honours and had a career in television I can be proud of.

“I’ve always been an achiever and someone who is quite proud.

"With the media you only get a distorted version, so people make assumptions that you’re just a handbag, you take a few pretty pictures and that’s pretty much the depth of you. I’m a lot more than that.”

Boyzone's Ronan Keating says distance from kids will stall 'definite' move to Sydney, Australia

Storm and Ronan tied the knot in Scotland in 2015 and the Queensland native said being in the public eye has not been an easy transition and has brought a lot of self doubt when it comes to her own work.

“I’m probably a little bit self-conscious of the fact that people look at Ro and go ‘That’s Ronan Keating and that’s his wife’. It’s tricky because I don’t want people to think ‘She’s doing that because she’s Ronan Keating’s wife’.

“I’m not that person, so I’m really aware of that. So I probably haven’t given myself as much of a chance, I’ve probably held myself back in some ways because I’m too scared to pursue something because of what people might think.”

She added: “I guess if I’m ever going to do some work, I want to be graceful about it. It’s not like a quick buck thing.

Boyzone's Keith Duffy breaks silence after 'worst health experience' of his life

“I want to do it slowly and with integrity and it could evolve into something amazing. But whatever it is, I just want to do it on my own two feet.

“I want to achieve it myself, and know that I’ve done it myself, and not because of anyone else, certainly not because of my husband.”

Storm said being a mum to Cooper, who is 22 months old, is her most important role at the moment.

“We are completely besotted by him, he’s one of the most charming babies I’ve ever met.”

Keith Duffy will not play in Australia tonight as Boyzone confirm he's still in hospital

Cooper has three older siblings, Jack, Missy and Ali from Ronan’s first marriage to Yvonne Connolly, and Storm hasn’t ruled out adding to the Keating family.

“It is certainly a possibility. It would be nice for Cooper to have a little brother or sister. I won’t lie, the idea of trying to manage another child on top of everything else and our crazy lifestyle is not exciting, but there is certainly a possibility for Coop to have a little buddy.”
