Storm Hannah wreaks havoc in Liverpool - in pictures

A cruise visit, a crunch promotion clash and a County Road roof were among the victims of Storm Hannah on Merseyside today.

Hours of wind and rain have made it a miserable day across the region.

And it isn't quite over - with these conditions set to continue into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Saturday saw the cruise ship Costa Mediterranea diverted from Liverpool due to strong winds, while Tranmere Rovers' game with Bury was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Part of County Road was also cordoned off by police over concerns about damage to a roof caused by the winds.

Some Merseyrail services were even disrupted as debris was blown onto the track.

A fallen tree was spotted on Caldy Road in West Kirby, while this Iron Man appeared to be losing his battle against the waves.

The wind had quite a pretty impact on part of the University of Liverpool campus - where Duncan Woods coined the word "blossacre" to describe the fallen blossom, while over in Ellesmere Port police were highlighting flooding in the area.

Tranmere's game was called off because of the rain. Results elsewhere mean the club has a genuine opportunity of automatic promotion to League One if they can claim three points from the rearranged Prenton Park fixture.

Meanwhile police and fire crews were called to County Road - where this image shows how part of a pavement was closed to the public due to concerns about the roof of one building.
