Storm Hannah weather disruption causes havoc at Cork and Shannon airports as passengers told to check flights with airlines

Passengers are being advised to check with their airlines before travelling as Storm Hannah wreaks havoc at two Irish airports.

Two Aer Lingus flights from Shannon to London Heathrow have been cancelled, with Met Eireann warning that wind speeds could reach up to 150km/h in counties Clare and Kerry.

Shannon Airport is advising passengers to contact their airline directly for an update on flight status.

In a tweet, Shannon Airport said: "Aer Lingus flights EI 386 to LHR at 17.20 and flight EI 387 from LHR at 21.00 are cancelled.

"We advise passengers to contact their airline directly to check their flight status. We will continue to update across our social channels."

At Cork Airport, passengers are also being advised to check their flight status with their airline.

Cork Airport tweeted: "Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the most up to date flight information as some operations departing and arriving at Cork Airport have been affected by weather disruptions."

Met Eireann has issued a Status Red weather warning in counties Kerry and Clare as Storm Hannah batters the west and south coasts.

The national forecaster said: “Northwesterly winds, associated with  Storm Hannah , will reach mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h in places this evening between 6pm and 8pm.”

The warning in Co Clare is valid between 8pm and 11pm on Friday.

Gusts of up to 150km/h are expected to batter Clare as Storm Hannah hits Ireland on Friday night.

The warning will be valid between 8pm and 11pm on Friday.

A Met Eireann warning said: “Northwesterly winds, associated with Storm Hannah, will reach mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h for a time this evening.”
