Storm Hannah: Highways England issues travel warning for M5 as South West to be battered by winds of up to 55mph

Bristol is preparing to be battered by Storm Hannah this weekend.

A yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office will come into force from 9pm this evening (April 26) and will remain in place until 3pm tomorrow.

The agency warned the weather could bring gusts of 60-70 mph around exposed coasts of south Wales and southwest England, whilst gusts of 45-55 mph are likely across more inland parts of central and southern England on Saturday (April 27).

Travel disruption is likely, the Met Office said, and ahead of the weather front, Highways England has issued its own warning for those travelling on the M5.

Mum says she was humiliated by Flybe after having to put dirty knickers in clear bag at Exeter Airport

The agency posted on Twitter: "If you’re planning on travelling on the M5 tonight or tomorrow please be aware that Storm Hannah is predicted to bring strong winds to the south of England between 9pm Friday until 3pm Saturday.

"Please take extra care if you’re towing caravans or riding motorbikes."

The Met Office said bus services could be impacted by the weather and power cuts are possible, with forecasters warning of the potential for fallen branches.
