Storm get relief with no judiciary charges

Nelson Asofa-Solomona has escaped sanction and is free to play in the first week of the NRL finals. (AAP)

Melbourne are breathing a sigh of relief after Kiwi Test prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona avoided a charge for late contact on Cronulla's Luke Metcalfe.

Asofa-Solomona was placed on report in the dying minutes of the Storm's last-round win over Cronulla, putting him at risk of missing a finals match.

The forward has been charged four times already this year, meaning any citing from the match review committee would have resulted in a suspension.

But Asofa-Solomona was not listed on the charge sheet on Saturday morning, with Parramatta's Keegan Hipgrave the only man facing sanction.

The Eels second-rower was picked up for a high shot on James Fisher-Harris in Parramatta's loss to Penrith, and priors mean even an early guilty plea will result in a one-game ban.

Hipgrave picked up a heavy concussion in his first game for a depleted Eels since round 15 and was unlikely to feature in the finals regardless.
