Storm fight bans at NRL judiciary

Melbourne are fighting the bans of Nelson Asofa-Solomona (c) and Reimis Smith at the NRL judiciary. (AAP)

Melbourne will fight Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Reimis Smith's bans at the NRL judiciary in a bid to have them face the Warriors on Sunday.

Asofa-Solomona was charged with contrary conduct for putting his knee on Joseph Vuna's head as he got up to play the ball against Gold Coast.

He would normally have been able to escape with a fine but two previous offences, including one for a high shot in the same game, means he is ineligible.

It means the New Zealand Test prop will have to beat the charge in order to avoid a one-game ban.

Meanwhile Smith is trying to have his high-tackle charge for a shot on Jaimin Joliffe downgraded to a fine.

The Melbourne centre was sin-binned over the hit and faces a two-match ban if unsuccessful on Tuesday night.
