Storm duo cop NRL bans after gutsy win

Reimis Smith will miss Melbourne's next two NRL matches due to a careless high tackle charge. (AAP)

Melbourne prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona will spend a week on the sidelines after being charged twice from Saturday's 20-14 NRL victory over Gold Coast.

The Kiwi star was hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge for dropping his knee into second-rower Joseph Vuna's head while getting up to play the ball.

The charge carries a one-match ban whether he accepts the early guilty plea or chooses to fight the suspension at he NRL judiciary on Tuesday night.

He was also hit with a grade one careless high tackle charge but has escaped with just a fine.

Centre Reimis Smith was not as lucky and is set to miss a fortnight for a grade two careless high tackle on Titans prop Jaimin Jolliffe.

Smith was sin-binned for the shot in the 67th minute of Saturday night's gritty win, with Jolliffe falling in the tackle before the Storm centre caught him around the head with his arm.

Smith is facing two weeks on the sidelines regardless of whether he challenges the charge.

However, both suspensions will come as a blow for the Storm who are set to face the Warriors on the Central Coast next Sunday, with a number of State of Origin players expected to back up.
