Storm Dennis warning after three people narrowly miss being washed away near sailing club

Don't put your life at risk like these three did. That is the message from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as Wales is set to be hit by another storm this weekend.

The footage shows the trio coming close to being washed away at Prestatyn during the worst of Storm Ciara on Sunday.

One of them was knocked off their feet by the wave that crashed over the sea wall.

It looked like they were filming the stormy seas as the storm brought widespread winds of 80mph across Wales.

Coastguards said this CCTV footage from Prestatyn Sailing Club shows why people should "stay away from the coast during severe weather".

The three were reportedly unhurt and drove off in a car shortly after the event.

A spokeswoman said: "If you’re on the coastline, however dramatic the storm looks, do not be tempted to take pictures by putting yourself at risk. A dramatic photograph or selfie is not worth risking your life for.

"Walkers should consider whether they could become cut off by the incoming tide and should not attempt to climb cliffs as shortcut back to the top.

"Don’t take risks, but if you do get into trouble or see someone else in difficulty call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."

The Met Office has officially named this weekend.

Two yellow weather warnings - for Saturday and Sunday - have been put in place ahead of the storm.
