Storm Dennis: Met Eireann issue six weather warnings, two orange, as 'severe' 120km/h gusts take over Ireland this weekend

Met Eireann has now issued a staggering six weather warnings all over Ireland as Storm Dennis takes over the country this weekend.

Two of the six warnings issued are orange as Ireland prepares itself for one of the biggest storms in recent times.

For Dublin, a new status yellow wind warning is now in place as Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford will be hit with up to 100km/h gusts with the slight risk of coastal flooding on Sunday.

That warning is in place from 10am to 10pm on Sunday.

Existing rainfall and wind warnings for the whole of the country are still in place for today and more information on those can be found .

Elsewhere, a status Yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick from 8pm Saturday to 10am Sunday.

This means: "Southwest winds with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h will gust up to 110km/h, strongest on hills and coasts with the risk of coastal flooding".

As well as this, a status orange wind warning is in place for Wexford and Waterford until 8pm tonight.

 

That means: "South to southwest winds with mean speeds of 55 to 75 km/h will gust up to 120 km/h, strongest on exposed coasts and hills."

Also, a status orange wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick from 10am to 10pm Sunday.

Similar to the first orange warning, this means: "southwest winds with mean speeds of 60 to 80 km/h with severe gusts of up to 120km/h, strongest on exposed hills and coasts, with a risk of coastal flooding.
