Storm Dennis: How the latest weather warning will affect your Glasgow commute tomorrow

The city is still continuing to feel the affects of Storm Dennis after a weekend of rainstorms and 55mph winds.

The latest Met Office weather warning is in place from 6pm tonight until noon tomorrow - which could cause problems for the early morning commute.

The alert runs until 6pm on Monday, covering the greater Glasgow area and promising heavy snow and ice.

It reads: “Snow showers and icy surfaces may lead to some travel disruption through Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

“Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snow with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

Here in the city, the forecast is for a chilly night tonight, with temperatures unlikely to rise above 5C on Tuesday - although milder temperatures is on the way later this week.

However, motorists could find themselves affected by the bad weather tomorrow morning, and commuters should drive with extra care amid a forecast for snow and ice in the likes of Lanark and Biggar.

At the moment, the Met Office shows heavy rain around commute time (6am) here in Glasgow.

We’ll bring you an update on the forecast and major roads around the city from 6am tomorrow morning. Until then, drive safe, Glasgow.
