Storm Darcy: Crowds cheer as 'hero' bus driver defeats snowy horror hill

Crowds were captured clapping and cheering when a Glasgow bus driver defeated snowy conditions to make it up a horror hill last night.

The driver has been hailed a 'hero' after he managed to navigate his double decker up the steep hill onto Edgefauld Road in Springburn.

After Storm Darcy arrived locals had taken to the streets to check out the white stuff when they spotted the driver struggling up the road.

In the video the stunned onlookers begin to applaud in disbelief as the busman defeats the odds to battle past the slippery obstacle.

One stunned local can be heard declaring in disbelief: "I'd have gave up!"

While another shouts: "That is one dedicated bus driver right there!"

The crowd then start urging the bus driver along the road while cheering and clapping in support.

In a post on Facebook one local said: "If Heineken made bus drivers - this is what they would look like.

"The driver managed to navigate his double decker bus up the steep and slippery hill onto Edgefauld Road in Springburn a short time ago.

"Brilliant driving and well done to all the local people cheering him on."

A London bus driver congratulated the man in the comments saying: "I'm a London bus driver, have been for 27 years. I would like to congratulate the driver for a professional performance. 10/10."

Another local said: "Great job, well done and lovely people cheering them."

Another added: "Epic driving, that hill is extremely steep. Hero."

It comes after heavy snow brought chaos to Scotland's roads as numerous crashes have been reported across the country.

Emergency services have been scrambling to accidents across the country as Storm Darcy continues to wreak havoc.
