Weather warnings for wind, snow and ice have been issued across large parts of the country as the UK struggles to recover from the battering from Storm Ciara.

More than 500 properties are believed to have been flooded during the storm, with the number expected to rise further, according to Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers.

A 58-year-old man, from Micheldever, was killed when a tree fell onto his car as he drove home from Winchester on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow across parts of the Midlands and eastern England, where flurries are already being reported.

On Monday night, the Government activated an emergency financial aid package for areas devastated by the storm.
