NI weather latest as yet another warning issued by Met Office

Another weather warning has been issued today - this time for snow on Wednesday.

In the latest in a series of Met Office notifications, they said: “Further snow showers and icy surfaces may lead to travel disruption.”

The warning, issued at around 11.30am on Sunday, covers the 12 hour period from midnight until 12pm on Wednesday.

The news comes against a backdrop of heavy rain and blustery conditions across Northern Ireland as Storm Ciara passes through.

Western parts appeared to have been hit hardest, with Omagh badly affected earlier today. The Crevenagh Road Park and Share, and other parts of the town, were flooded after the Drumragh River burst its banks.

In Belfast the Lagan appeared swollen in parts, but there were no reports of any flooding. Yellow warnings for snow are already in place for Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures look set to be cooler from Monday through to Wednesday with highs of only around five or six degrees.

Rush hour on Monday looks to be cold and windy.
