Storm Ciara in Ayrshire: New weather warning for rain, wind and snow issued by Met Office for tomorrow

A severe weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for parts of Ayrshire this weekend, with ‘flooding of homes and businesses possible’, according to the Met Office.

The yellow alert comes after forecasters issued an earlier warning for wind in advance of Storm Ciara's arrival over the weekend.

As reported on Ayrshire Live, Storm Ciara is set to bring gale force winds on Saturday and Sunday, and then on Monday and Tuesday Met Office forecasters are predicting snow and strong winds.

Forecasters have warned that delays to travel are likely by road, rail and ferry.

Short term power losses are also being predicted as the gale force winds barrel ashore.

Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected widely inland with exposed coasts and hills seeing gusts of around 70 mph for a time.

Those travelling have been advised to plan ahead and allow plenty of time for their journey.
