In the words of a very excited resident: "It has finally happened".
While the tips of the Pentland Hills and parts of the Lothians may have been hit with snow recently, Edinburgh has been feeling somewhat left out.
Storm Ciara brought havoc over the weekend - with train cancellations and a "river" appearing in the north east of the city - and now locals have woken up to snow blasts.
Councillor Scott Arthur shared a rather blustery clip from Edinburgh's Buckstone area this morning, which saw heavy snow and windy weather.
Others also took to social media to share their excitement, as the city sees some of its first "proper" snowfall of the decade.
Miriam wrote on Twitter: "OMG snow! Real snow, not that fake ‘wintry mix’ s***. I am so charmed!"
Another said: "It has finally happened: snow in Edinburgh. Who knows how long it will last, but for right now, I am happy."
Meanwhile, councillor Phil Doggart is clearly in the parts of the city that are yet to see snow...and not just a mixture of sleet and rain.
Replying to councillor Scott Arthur, he said: "That’s a lot more than we have. Amazing the difference a hill makes."
According to the Met Office, locals should brace themselves for a further three days of heavy snow and warn that vehicles and passengers could become "stranded" on roads.
