Storm Callum - LIVE: Thousands of homes across Ireland without power and travel disrupted as Met Office issues yellow weather warning

Storm Callum is sweeping across Ireland, leaving thousands of homes and businesses without power. 

Around 30,000 properties in the country were affected overnight. 

Hundreds of homes in Northern Ireland have also lost power. 

The storm is also expected to bring heavy winds and rain to the north-west of the UK

The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning across the north east of England. 

The Environment Agency is urging motorists not to drive through flood water.

Dublin City Council has said that outreach teams are working across the city to help rough sleepers access support and shelter during the storm.

Arriva Trains Wales has cancelled some trains in anticipation of extreme rainfall and coastal flooding in the Wales & Borders area this weekend.
A number of Aer Lingus flights to and from Dublin Airport have been cancelled. Storm Callum has not had a significant impact on operations according to the airport's Twitter account.

Western Power Distribution have said that more than 950 homes are without electricity in south west England and nearly 100 lack power in south Wales.
Met Eireann's update warns of the possibility of "further infrastructural damage" in Ireland. 

Motorists in the Isle of Man have been warned by police about windy and rainy conditions which are causing issues on the roads.
The Met Office has released a satellite image showing the size of the storm. 


 
Gusts of up to 76 mph have hit part of the UK, with the highest speeds recorded on the Isles of Scilly in the early hours of Friday morning. 
60mph gales were recorded in Camborne in Cornwall and Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire.
Met Eireann issued an orange weather warning in Ireland for counties including Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Clare. 
Gusts of between 100 and 130km/h are expected, with wind speeds likely to be higher in coastal areas. 
Heavy winds have caused trees to fall across Ireland. Members of the public have been asked to stay clear of them in case of fallen power lines.

Forecaster Met Eireann has warned of potential risk to life and property in Ireland. An orange wind warning is in place across parts of the country.
