Storm Barra: Multiple power outages cause chaos across Dublin as wind warning remains in place

ESB Networks are reporting that there are numerous power cuts across Dublin this morning caused by Storm Barra as it continues its path across the country

A fault in Malahide is affecting 20 customers and a fault in Pembroke is affecting 242 customers, while 227 customers are affected in Milltown Drive.

ESB Networks says that it is working to repair these faults.

It says that for Malahide power is expected to be restored for 5pm, while Milltown Drive has seen its power restored in the last few minutes.

Across the country 60,000 people are now without power, with Dublin and much of the country under a Yellow wind and rain warning until 6pm this evening.

Four counties were under a Status Orange alert this morning Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Dublin – the capital was added late last night to that list, but the Orange alert ended at 7am.

The other counties that no longer have a Status Orange or Red warning, but did last night at some stage and so schools are still closed, are Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Mayo, and Galway.

Thousands of homes, farms and businesses across the country were left without power through the night as the storm wreaked havoc in some areas.

ESB Networks’ crews are set to work late into the night to restore power.
