Storm Barra: Met Eireann extend wind warnings for eight counties as dangerous conditions to linger over Ireland

Met Eireann have extended their wind warnings for eight counties as Storm Barra lingers over Ireland.

The worst of the conditions seem to have passed, with the status red and status orange warnings issued by the forecaster being lifted on Wednesday morning.

However, Wednesday afternoon saw Met Eireann extend their status yellow wind warning for eight counties.

A spokesperson said: "There is a continued risk of fallen trees, large coastal waves and difficult driving conditions so continue to stay aware."

The first of the two warnings is in place for Dublin, Louth, Meath, Wicklow and Mayo.

It reads: "Due to Storm Barra, northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h and gusts of up to 100 km/h with localised stronger winds likely."

While the second warning applies to Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

It reads: "Due to Storm Barra, northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h and gusts of 90 to 110 km/h with localised stronger winds likely."

Meanwhile, a hilarious clip has appeared online showing a driver in Galway city struggling to park live on a TG4 news broadcast.

The evening news segment shows local TD Eamon O Cuiv being interviewed outside The Dail bar in the heart of the city.

But unbeknownst to the Fianna Fail politician is the awkward driving scenes taking place behind him while he is live on air.

Someone who captured the video on Snapchat and later posted it to Reddit on Tuesday described the motorist as "having a right mare".
