Storm Barra: Georges Street Arcade landlords to provide financial support to shops due to wicked weather

The landlords at will provide financial support to the shops under their roof due to the wicked weather.

They want businesses to feel “under no pressure” to open during Storm Barra.

They took to Facebook and Twitter to say: “Dear all at Georges Street Arcade: Please be under no pressure to open tomorrow morning.

“Likewise, the uncertainty of these times. We will smooth out by continuing our financial and other support.

“So do not worry, ever! All will be well. Joe and Gwen Layden, landlords.”

It is set to become extremely windy tomorrow morning in Dublin as Storm Barra approaches from the Atlantic.

A band of heavy and squally rain will sweep through during the morning followed by bright spells and frequent squally showers.

Gale force southeast winds will later veer southwest in direction with a possibility of coastal flooding early in the day.

Maximum temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.

Dublin is under an Orange Weather Warning from 08:00am tomorrow morning as southeasterly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with severe or damaging gusts of 100 to 130 km/h, with localised stronger winds likely.

Due to a combination of high waves, storm surge and high tide, coastal flooding is expected. Disruption to power and travel are likely.
