SEPA states: "This Flood Alert is for coastal flooding, Storm Barra is expected to affect the area on Tuesday and Wednesday and this brings with it the threat of very strong south easterly winds and heavy rain.
"Coastal flooding issues are likely due to a combination of high astronomical tides, large waves and a small storm related surge in water levels. The most likely impacts are spray and wave overtopping in exposed coastal locations and flooding to low-lying land and roads. The time of highest risk is likely to be high tide on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 16:30 and again at 04:30 on Wednesday morning. Times are based on Leith."
As we move inland to Scotland, a yellow weather warning for snow has been issued.
Just over a week since the east coast was battered by Storm Arwen, Storm Barra is forecasted to bring snow, wind and rain.
Yellow weather warnings have been issued for the majority of the UK with a severe red warning to the west coast of Ireland.
High winds are expected to cause travel disruption to the east coast of Scotland and Edinburgh can expect wintry showers from 1pm which will change to sleet by 2pm.
The yellow weather warning for wind on the east coast of Scotland is in place from 9am Tuesday December 7 to midnight.
Winds will increase in power through the day. According to the Met Office from 12pm, winds will pick up to gusts of 32 miles per hour and reach 43 between 3pm and 4pm.
These high winds will start to ease from 5pm
While temperatures this afternoon won't move past 2 degrees, the Met Office predicts it will 'feel like' a freezing -5.
This is expected to rise in the evening to 4 degrees by 6pm but will still only feel like -1.
