Storm Barra disruption continues across Dundee and Tayside

The impact of Storm Barra continues across Dundee and Tayside this morning

The region was hit by 60mph winds, heavy rain, freezing temperatures and flurries of snow and sleet overnight.

Transport across the area has been affected with road closures and the cancellation of some rail and bus services.

DundeeLive reported how Dock Street and Gellatly Street in Dundee City centre were closed after debris was spotted falling from buildings.. The closure affected Tay Road Bridge traffic through the evening.

Drivers heading to Perth and Kinross today and specifically heading towards Glenshee and Tummel Bridge have been asked to check social media for updates as some roads in those areas remain closed.

Bus passengers heading to Fife have also been asked to check the Stagecoach website and Twitter feeds for service updates.

Passengers are being told that there will be delays to Stagecoach’s 99, 42A and 77 services heading into Fife.

Several LNER services have been cancelled with the operator putting on coach services to pick up passengers at stops in Angus, Dundee and Fife.

There are also delays on ScotRail services between Montrose and Inverurie due to speed restrictions.
