These were the dramatic scenes that greeted Dublin residents this morning when they woke up as Storm Alex caused carnage overnight.
The beast, named by the French Met Office, had an extremely harsh and rainy reign over Dublin last night which resulted in the severe flooding of the westside estate.
Ballyfermot locals took to social media expressing their surprise and shock at the fact that they were trapped following the bizarre weather conditions.
One Ballyer posted in a local Facebook group warning that Cloverhill Road had turned into a mini-lake, with inches of water covering the ground.
The snap posted at around 6am joked: "Holy s***, the kids will be swimming to school this morning".
According to locals, the downpour in the area between 1am and 4am this morning was "torrential" with people saying they "weren't surprised" with the outcome.
Cars in the estate were unable to move with many getting stuck in the colossal cascade.
Work began first thing this morning to remove the excess water with locals rolling up their sleeves and getting down and dirty to help clear the swamp which was completely gone by 10am.
Resident Vanessa Turner took an amazing picture outside her front door which showed the aftermath of Storm Alex.
She told Dublin Live: "It started at 3am this morning and it was just constant.
"This was taken outside my house and it was only cleared at around 10am.
"Cars couldn't move and many who tried got stuck in the floods.
"I got such a shock, I didn't know what was going on."
