Stop pointing out how tall Dirk Nowitzki is, parents

Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has one of the most unique skillsets in the league, and may be the best “tall” shooter in history of the game. He ranks 11th on the all-time 3-point shooting list with more than 1,900 made threes, and he’s the only 7-footer among the top 50.

Dirk seems to be fed up, however, with random passersby marveling at his size. On Tuesday, Nowitzki asked whether it was “cool” for parents to gawk at his towering frame.

Calling Dirk Nowitzki tall is harmless, of course, but it’s generally a good idea from literally pointing out a physical characteristic of another person in public. That’s rude! Dirk has feelings too, you know.

A follower trolled Nowitzki over his tweet, noting that the 40-year-old probably wouldn’t be “running around” and pointing out short people.

Adam Silver also needled Nowitzki’s speed at the All-Star Game. Dwyane Wade and Nowitzki were added to the 2019 All-Star rosters as special additions, and while Wade has already announced his plan to retire after the season, Nowitzki’s future is technically still unclear. Silver said he could tell this would be Nowitzki’s last season by the way he runs.

“In the case of Dirk Nowitzki, I saw him painfully running up and down the court, and I think it was clear that this was going to be his last season.”
