KOTA: Congress MLA from Sangod in Kota Bharat Singh Kundanpur on Wednesday has urged chief minister Ashok Gehlot to stop ‘cheating by government’ in name of cow cess levied by the previous BJP government.
Singh shot a letter to Gehlot on Wednesday in this regard.
The cow cess being extorted from the public is the creation of some ghost’s mind in previous BJP government and the public of the state can’t oppose tax in the name of cow, he said and alleged the government does receive revenue from it (the tax) but at the same time does not solve the problem. Over Rs 2 crore is charged as tax per day over stamp duty and liquor but what does a common man get out of this tax, Singh questioned. A common man gets cattle everywhere on roads and accident caused death due to the cow on road, he further said adding the government no more makes monetary compensation to the injured and kin of the deceased. The family gets only trouble and the government does not utilise the revenue generated in the name of cow, he further wrote.
Without naming gopalan minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, Singh wrote ‘nourishing any expectation from state’s gopalan minister is like quenching thrust out of a dry well.’
