You read right - IRN-BRU have today announced that they will be releasing a brand new energy drink for the first time since 2006.
From July 1 you can give yourself a boost with the launch of IRN-BRU Energy - the brand-new formula will combine the iconic flavour of IRN-BRU’s top secret essence with the taurine, caffeine, B vitamins and the taste of an energy drink.
Most details are being kept strictly under wraps until its official launch on 1 July, but Scotland’s other national drink has confirmed that IRN-BRU Energy is designed to meet the needs of today’s energy drinker and will offer a different taste experience to regular IRN-BRU.
It's got the same amount of caffeine as a medium latte so we might finally have found the replacement hangover cure we've been waiting for since original recipe BRU was cancelled (may it rest in peace).
You'll be able to grab a can in sugar and no sugar variants across Scotland, Ireland and the North of England (sorry to the rest of England) from July 1. We've been told it's still going to be BRU's distinctive orange colour and features the iconic strongman on the pack.
Adrian Troy, marketing director at A.G. Barr, said: “We know there are a huge number of IRN-BRU fans who love energy drinks, so we’re excited to reveal our plans for IRN-BRU Energy.
“Energy drinks are a really fast-growing, exciting market and we’re confident IRN-BRU Energy will wake up and shake up energy drink fans in Scotland and beyond.”
