Leeds United supporters have reacted to Frank Lampard 's concerns regarding the 2020/21 Premier League season start date.
Originally scheduled for 8 August, the 20/21 campaign - which the Whites will be apart of - is now set to start over a month later than planned on September 12 and conclude on May 23.
This is because the 2019/20 season finished more than two months later than planned due to the coronavirus pandemic which caused football to be suspended for three months and therefore the start of the 2020/21 campaign has been pushed back.
However, not everyone is on board with such plans.
Chelsea's season has yet to conclude as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 second leg at the weekend, which means they could have just 35 days to recover for the new season should they fail to overturn a 3-0 deficit.
And Lampard feels September 12 is too early to begin the new season.
"Players need to be given a break to play at the level and quality the Premier League is," Lampard said. "I would like to think the Premier League would look seriously at that.
"Hopefully they give us a fair start next season.
"Even in a worst-case scenario - we don't go through against Bayern - the 12th feels too early for me for the players to start playing again."
Of course, given the history between Lampard and Leeds United, there has been a big reaction to the Blues head coach's comments on social media.
Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...
"Premier League Shareholders today agreed to start the 2020/21 Premier League season on 12 September 2020," a statement from the Premier League read.
"The final match round of the campaign will take place on 23 May 2021.
"The Premier League will continue to consult The FA and EFL regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions."
