'Stop Brexit' advocate Steve Bray calls on Jeremy Corbyn to 'get off the fence'

'Stop Brexit' advocate Steve Bray has said the majority of Labour members he has spoken to back Remain as he called on Jeremy Corbyn to "get off the fence".

Mr Bray, who protests outside Parliament on each sitting day, has set up outside the Labour Party conference in Brighton.

On the discussions he has had with attendees, he said: "Being here has told me Labour is very much for remain - even though the leadership is wanting to be on the fence."

Asked what he would say to Mr Corbyn, he said: "Get off the fence and back what the majority of Labour members want."

Mr Bray, who said he is apolitical on party politics while he campaigns, said he felt it was important to be at conference to "show how people are feeling".

He said as Parliament was suspended he wanted to protest elsewhere - and would be back when it resumes.

He hit out at the PM who he called "not fit to serve".

And addressing those who back no deal he said: "Nobody at all voted for no deal."

His comments come as Mr Corbyn faces an internal battle over Brexit - with factions of his party pushing for it to support Remain explicitly.

Mr Corbyn has suggested he would, if he won a general election, negotiate a new deal then put that to a referendum with Remain as an option - but said he would remain neutral on supporting either.
