Stop-and-search powers have been extended and two further arrests have been made following a spate of violence in parts of Trafford and Manchester.
A Section 60 order - allowing police to stop-and-search anyone within an area - was put in place for parts of Hulme, Old Trafford and Whalley Range on Wednesday (May 31) after 'recent incidents of violent crime'. A man, aged 18, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
The order was extended for 24 hours until Friday. Last night, police said the order had been extended again.

The increased stop-and-search powers within the area will now be in place until 8.13pm tonight (Saturday). Patrols will be stepped up in the area.
Another two males have also been arrested, police said. Weapons have been seized from within the area.
A post on the GMP City Centre page last night said: "#UPDATE | This section 60 has been extended for a further 24 hours ending at 20:13pm on Saturday 3 June 2023.
"A further two males have been arrested and weapons seized as a result of the stop and search powers authorised in the area. Proactive policing patrols will continue in the area over the coming days."
