Stoneyburn Juniors honour sadly missed Steven with kit donation to schools

Stoneyburn Juniors are honouring the legacy of their much missed secretary by gifting 40 club kits to local children for Christmas.

The club have donated the strips to Stoneyburn Primary School and Our Lady’s Primary School in the village who will distribute them out to pupils as Christmas presents.

Steven Macmillan passed away in August at the age of 43 after serving as the club’s secretary for more than 20 years.

A Stoneyburn man, Steven was passionate about the club and the local community and the gifts have been made possible following a fundraising drive for the club on behalf of the Macmillan family.

Almost £10,000 was donated to the Crowdfunding page which went towards improvements at the club’s Beechwood Park home as well as the Christmas kit initiative.

Club president David Macmillan, Steven’s father, said: “This is what Steven would have wanted and it’s a fitting way to honour his legacy.

“Steven cared deeply about both Stoneyburn Juniors, the community and getting the youth involved with the club.

“Steven would be delighted that 40 young children in the local community will be wearing a Stoneyburn Juniors kit on Christmas Day.”

David and Steven’s wife, Lyn, presented the kits to the schools.
