'Stonewall!' - Tottenham fans convinced over what happened to Harry Kane in Arsenal clash

Tottenham supporters have been left furious that Ben White's challenge on Harry Kane did not end up in the visitors being awarded a penalty.

Spurs, who were 3-0 down at the time after Arsenal's first-half showing that saw Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka scoring, thought they should have had a penalty after Kane was seemingly brought down by White.

There was some confusion whether the incident took place inside or outside of the penalty box, but on second viewing, it was undoubtedly in the area.

However, that was made to be irrelevant after referee Craig Pawson waved away strong appeals from the visiting players at the Emirates Stadium.

The match ended 3-1, with Son Heung-min scoring what turned out to be a consolation goal in the 78th minute, and while it would still have been an uphill challenge for Spurs to get back into the game even if Kane was awarded a penalty, it certainly could have sparked some sort of revival.

Gary Neville, who was on co-commentary duty for Sky Sports, was adamant that Tottenham should have been given a spot-kick by Pawson.

He said: "I thought that was a penalty. It’s certainly a foul., that’s a fact, kicks out Ben White, is it in the box?

"Hmm, right on the edge. It’s in the box, it’s just whether he [White] reaches his leg out far enough to be on the edge it would’ve been a foul anyway unless VAR aren’t getting involved in things."

The defeat means Tottenham are now 11th in the Premier League table, with opponents Arsenal leapfrogging them into the top half following three successive defeats from Spurs.
